The kingdom of kite in China - Weifang, Shandong is well-known all over the world because the kite sports are held from 20th to 25th April every year since 1984,which attracts thousands of Kite Flyers from all over China and kiteing enthusiasts from around the world. During the Kite Festival, the Weifang city is very liveliness decorated with lanterns and colorful streamers, a lot of folk traditional artistic performs are spread out intermittently and the whole city is full of joy like in the Lantern Festival. The exhibition of traditional lantern is flickered and living when the night curtain droops.
This year's festival include: the opening ceremony of the 25th session of the Weifang International Kite Festival via the Theatrical Performance for the 28th National Awards of Best Selection of Stamps; "Celebrate the coming of the 2008 Beijing Olympics;" 10,000 people Kite Flying Performance via Kite Competition; the first China Weifang Kite Fair of new products; "A night in the city of kites"- a big show of song, dance and fireworks; as well as the third Weifang Tourism Festival.
